Getting Started with O Series Cloud Online Commerce
Everything you need to start integrating right away.
Vertex O Series Cloud Online Commerce is a cloud-based tax solution that automates indirect tax determination and compliance for e-commerce, marketplace, and online platforms. It supports both direct-to-consumer and marketplace business models, enabling businesses to scale across jurisdictions without adding integration or operational complexity.
Tax compliance for e-commerce, marketplace, and online platforms is inherently complex. In addition to indirect tax obligations, businesses must manage platform-specific requirements that vary across jurisdictions. Cross-border operations add more complexity because each jurisdiction enforces its own tax rules, regulations, and reporting requirements.
Vertex O Series Cloud Online Commerce simplifies this complexity by automating tax determination across the checkout experience. A single solution supports both direct-to-consumer (two-party) and marketplace (three-party) transactions, helping businesses expand into new markets.
Vertex delivers Vertex O Series Cloud Online Commerce via Vertex O Series Cloud and the API endpoint, which seamlessly integrates with the core Vertex O Series Cloud REST API. Our API endpoint uses the same data model as the standard O Series Cloud REST API, helping to ensure consistency, reliability, and streamlined adoption for existing customers.

Considerations
Note the following considerations:
- The service supports only the
QUOTATIONandINVOICEmessage types. - The service supports only the
SUPdelivery term. - The service doesn't support child items.
- The service doesn't support both physical and digital goods in the same transaction.
- Each refund must include a negative amount and reference the original transaction. The
originalTransactionIdvalue must match thetransactionIdfrom the initialINVOICEmessage. - Each shipping charge must be specified as a separate line item.
- Certain features—such as pre-assist, post-assist, and transaction tester—don't apply to specific capabilities, including Liability Determination and Integrated Vertex Validator.
