Validation Type per Country
Read about the supported countries and the type of validation supported for each one.
Note
The Tax IDs that are checked are those used for international trade. There may be some Tax IDs that are used for domestic transactions which may not be present in the databases used to validate the IDs. You should only use these validation results for international trade to foreign buyers.
The following table lists the supported countries for Vertex Validator. The categories are as follows:
- Supported: Tax IDs from this country or region are supported.
- Validation Type: Validation can be one of 2 types:
- Syntax: Only the syntax of the ID is checked against the requirement specified by the country or region.
- Database: The syntax is checked and the Tax ID is checked against the database for that country or region.

Notes
- The following local EU Validation source databases have been enabled in addition to VIES:
- German local source can validate all EU VAT IDs expect German VAT IDs.
- Italy local source can validate Italian VAT IDs. Note, this requires a CAPTCHA solution that are likely to impact response speed.
- Romania local source database can validate all Romanian VAT IDs.
- Czech Republic local source database can validate Czech VAT IDs.
- Latvia local source database can validate Latvian VAT IDs.
- This denotes that the Database requires CAPTCHA validation. CAPTCHA resolution is completed automatically by Vertex but this can impact response speed.
- Egypt supports both TRN and UIN in tandem. See Egypt.
