Add tax-exempt arbitrary refunds
Complete these steps to add your arbitrary refund tax exemptions.
Taxability drivers represent parts of your business that affect tax outcomes, such as arbitrary refunds. An arbitrary refund occurs when your business refunds an amount that differs from the original purchase price, typically when you manually adjust the refund amount in your Shopify admin.
During an arbitrary refund, the Vertex for Shopify connector sends the refund_discrepancy product code for the line item. This product code identifies the arbitrary refund transaction, but it doesn't affect tax calculation on its own. To apply tax exemptions or specific tax treatment, add the taxability driver to a taxability category in Vertex O Series. The taxability driver sets the tax rules and rates based on your taxability selection.
Note:
This feature is available to a limited audience. It doesn't affect existing functionality unless you add the taxability driver to a taxability category.
