Configure your tax settings

Complete these steps to configure your connection and tax settings.

You can configure how the Vertex for Shopify integration performs tax calculation in Vertex O Series from the Vertex Tax & Compliance app in your Shopify admin.

Shipping product class

Vertex for Shopify uses the shipping zones and delivery settings from your Shopify admin to determine where you offer shipping. It also uses the product class from the taxability driver in Vertex O Series to calculate shipping taxes.

The Shipping Product Class identifies the product class for shipping tax calculation.

Gift card product code

In most cases, gift cards are sales tax-exempt, preventing double taxation when using them to purchase products and services. Vertex for Shopify uses the product code from the taxability driver in Vertex O Series to determine whether to charge or exempt taxes.

The Gift Card Product Code identifies the product code used to determine whether to charge or exempt tax.

Journal orders

By default, Vertex for Shopify records every quote and invoice. When enabled, Vertex for Shopify pulls both quote and invoice requests from Shopify and records the transaction details in Vertex O Series. You can disable this feature if you only want to pull quote requests while using another platform for invoicing.
