You can configure how the Vertex for Shopify connector calculates tax in Vertex O Series from the Vertex Tax & Compliance app in your Shopify admin.

Shipping product class

The connector uses the shipping zones and delivery settings in your Shopify admin to determine where you offer shipping. It also uses the product class from the taxability driver in Vertex O Series to calculate shipping tax.

The Shipping Product Class identifies the product class used for shipping tax calculation.

Gift card product code

Gift cards are typically sales tax-exempt to prevent double taxation when customers use them to purchase products. The connector uses the product code from the taxability driver in Vertex O Series to determine whether to charge or exempt tax.

The Gift Card Product Code identifies the product code used to determine whether to charge or exempt tax.

Journal orders

By default, the connector records every quote and invoice request in Vertex O Series. When enabled, the connector sends both quote and invoice requests to Vertex O Series, which logs the requests and records the order details. Disable this setting if you want the connector to pull only quote requests while your platform manages invoicing.

Configure the tax settings

To configure the tax settings, follow these steps:

1. In your Shopify admin, select Apps > Vertex Tax & Compliance.
2. Click Connection and Tax Settings, and then click Edit Tax Settings.
3. Enter all applicable tax information, noting all required fields.
4. Click Save.
