Add your tax-exempt customers

When business-to-business (B2B) customers have tax exemptions, and you have certificates with the details, you can add the certificates to Vertex O Series so the Vertex for Shopify integration applies the exemption to the appropriate orders.

When you add the certificate, use the company identifier from your Shopify admin as the customer code.

The company’s tax-exempt status precedes the customer’s status. For example, when the company's tax-exempt status applies, it also applies to each customer placing an order within the company. However, when the customer's tax-exempt status applies, it applies only to the customer placing an order within the company.

Copy the company details

To copy the company details for the customer tax exemption, follow these steps:

1. In your Shopify admin, select Customers > Companies.
2. Click the name of the company that you want to change.
3. In the company details section, click the ellipsis (...) icon, and then click Edit company details.
4. Copy the contents in the Company ID field to the customer code in the certificate.
