Configure your product classes

Complete these steps to configure the product class for each product.

A metafield definition is a template that specifies which part of your store a metafield applies to and what kind of value the metafield can have. The Vertex for Shopify integration uses a metafield to send a product class for a product in Shopify to Vertex O Series during a quote or invoice request.

Before you can add a product class to a product, you must create a metafield definition for that value. The metafield definition ensures that the same validation rules apply to the value you enter for each product.

If you don't want to send a product class, or you want to override the product class, you can map the Shopify stock-keeping unit (SKU) to the Vertex product code. In this case, Vertex O Series sets the product class to None.
