European Union Validation
Learn about local validation sources for European Union member states.
To enhance European Union (EU) value added tax (VAT) identification number validation, the service provides access to local validation sources across EU member states. In the Validator Settings feature, you can select a validation source for each member state.
Local validation sources
Here's a list of local EU validation sources and the VAT ID types each source supports.

Considerations
Note the following considerations:
- Validating Italian VAT IDs against the Italian validation source requires CAPTCHA verification, which can significantly impact response time. For more information, see CAPTCHA Validation.
- Validation sources include VAT IDs registered for cross-border trade and those registered for domestic trade.
