Vertex for Marketplaces is an API-based solution that helps marketplaces and their sellers automate indirect tax determination and comply with marketplace tax regulations across multiple countries and regions. These regulations determine whether the marketplace, seller, or buyer is liable for tax, depending on the transaction.

Use the REST APIs to integrate Vertex for Marketplaces with your marketplace platform. You can also use the user interface to configure settings, view data, and generate reports.

Components

Vertex for Marketplaces includes the following components:

• Marketplace Transaction API—Integrate the marketplace and seller stores with your financial host system. A single integration supports both two-party and three-party transactions. For more information, see Getting Started with the APIs.
• Marketplace API—Manage marketplace settings. In the following example, the marketplace uses the integration to build a user interface that allows employees to update settings.
• Sellers API—Create seller records and edit seller settings. In the following example, the marketplace uses the integration to build a user interface that lets sellers edit their records.
• Vertex Invoice IQ—Generate tax-compliant digital invoices. For more information, see Vertex Invoice IQ.
• Vertex Validator—Validate tax identification numbers to support business-to-business (B2B) transactions. For more information, see Vertex Validator.
• Dashboard—Manage settings, reports, and users in a user interface.

Supported countries and regions

For more information, see Supported Countries and Regions.

Your marketplace platform can submit transactions to the service for any supported country or region. However, Vertex products calculate tax only for the countries and regions included in your license. If you submit a transaction that requires tax calculation for an unlicensed country or region, the API returns an error instead of tax results.
