Validation Status Values

Learn about the validation statuses used to validate tax identification numbers.

These field references describe the values specified in the validation-status field in the Schedule Report request.

The following validation status values are available:

tax-number-country-blockedThe country or region is blocked in the settings.
tax-number-validation-not-availableThe service could not validate the tax number.
tax-number-ignoredThe tax number was ignored because the settings block tax numbers for this country, region, or seller.
tax-number-syntax-validThe tax number syntax is valid. However, no further validation was performed. If a checksum is required, such as for India, the tax number is considered valid when the syntax is valid and there is no checksum.
tax-number-syntax-invalidThe tax number syntax is invalid.
tax-number-syntax-considered-valid-but-not-verifiedThe tax number syntax is valid, but its status could not be verified. This can occur when the on-error setting is syntax-check and the external validation service does not respond.
tax-number-considered-valid-in-domestic-countryThe tax number is valid in the supplier's domestic country or region.
tax-number-valid-according-to-external-serviceThe tax number was validated against the tax authority's database and is valid.
tax-number-invalid-according-to-external-serviceThe tax number was validated against the tax authority's database and was found to be invalid.
tax-number-validation-requested-additional-interactionsThe tax authority requires additional information or interaction before it can validate the tax number. For example, a country might require CAPTCHA validation.
tax-number-service-temporarily-unavailableThe validation service is temporarily unavailable, so the system could not connect to it.
