Invoice Type Codes
You must use one of the following values for the Invoice Type Code for Japan. More details are provided in the Japan: Invoice Type Codes topic.
Code | Description |
---|---|
380 | Used for standard Japanese invoices. |
480 | Used for non-tax invoices. |
389 | Used for self-billing. |
Tax Currency Codes
You must use JPY
as the Tax Currency Code for Japanese Documents . More details are provided in the Japan: Tax Accounting Currency topic.
Tax Category ID (UNCL 5305)
You use one of the following values to specify the Tax Category ID for Allowances and Charges for certain Japanese invoice types. More details are provided in the Japan: Allowances and Charges (Document Level) topic.

E | Exempt from Tax |
G | Free export item, tax not charged |
O | Outside scope of tax |
S | Standard rate |
Tax Scheme ID (UNECE 5153)
You can use values from the UNECE 5153 list to specify the Tax Scheme ID. More details are provided in the Japan: Allowances and Charges (Document Level). Usually it is VAT
or GST
.
Company ID for Japanese Suppliers (Registration Number for Qualified Invoice Purpose number)
For Japanese Suppliers, if the date of the invoice is after October 1st 2023, you must use the Registration Number for Qualified Invoice Purpose number to identify the Supplier. More details are provided in the Japan: Supplier's Tax Scheme topic.
